Having been raised in a family containing a number of artists, it was not difficult for William Gould to gain an appreciation for the talents they possessed. William gravitated toward photography, after spending many hours involved in developing pictures in his father, John Gould’s lab.
William graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Newburgh. He then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie and a master’s degree from New Paltz. He taught mathematics for 33 years at Newburgh Free Academy.
He and his wife Cheryl have been married for 38 years and
raised two children. Starting a family was a catalyst for the beginning of William’s photographic career. Their interests and activities were the subjects of his early photographs but soon he branched into other subjects.

William also works at the Bethlehem Art Gallery as a picture framing consultant. Here he has seen the works of many artists and photographers, learning many lessons which have influenced him, culminating in the works you see here. |
