John Gould

about the artist...

 

JOHN GOULD has had a long career in art, both as artist and art instructor. He is also well- known as a lecturer on art, particularly oriental painting.

In 1957, he established the Bethlehem Art Gallery and Art School located near Newburgh, N.Y. He was born in Worcester, Mass,, studied art at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y. and later instructed at Pratt for 22 years. He was a prominent illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post for more than eight years and an illustrator for many national corporations.

In the world of fine arts, he is a succesful painter. His oil paintings and watercolors are in many private collections. For subject matter, he is partial to historical subjects.

For the past 20 years, Mr. Gould has been art consultant for General Electric Co., Erie Pa., Locomotive Division. His paintings of locomotives and rapid transit subjects can be seen in executive offices of railroads worldwide, as well as in every railroad company office in the USA.
